[Report] Attendance at the 40th MARQUES Annual Conference
From September 22 to September 25, 2026, our Representative Patent Attorney, Gomi, attended the 40th MARQUES Annual Conference held in Lisbon, Portugal.
MARQUES is a premier international association representing the interests of brand owners and intellectual property professionals across Europe. Convened under the theme “THE EXCITING EVOLUTION OF TRADEMARKS,” this year’s conference brought together trademark and brand protection practitioners from across the globe.
Throughout the conference, extensive discussions centered on key practical issues, such as the intersection of Geographical Indications (GIs) and international trade, as well as strategic responses to emerging frameworks like the “Digital Product Passport.” In addition, the sessions provided invaluable insights directly relevant to future European practice, including the latest operational updates from the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and significant case law reviews from the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU).
Furthermore, bilateral meetings and discussions with local associates worldwide allowed us to reaffirm and strengthen our international network.
By leveraging the latest European insights and our expanded global network gained through this conference, our firm remains dedicated to providing prompt, accurate, and strategic support to safeguard our clients’ global brand assets and intellectual property rights.
